Prompts

Prompts. What are they? Prompts are a way to get one in the habit of daily writing. Daily writing in a journal, a blog, or the makings of a novel. A prompt is another way to get out of the writing slump. “What do I write about today?” Another way to incite your creative juices. Some artists, may struggle with the slump of what to paint or what type of photos to take. Writing is another art that requires you to think. As with a photo or painting, writing should be shared with others. I’ve gotten into the habit of writing down ideas that strike me for writing. A simple notebook that allows me to list my ideas, crossing off each idea as I write. My notebook also has a listing of the prompts that I have used when stuck in a rut. I even have a book with preselected prompts that I can choose from. Some are short while others can be rather long. It all depends on how much writing that I do for that particular prompt. I strive to write at least 20 minutes a day. Some days I find myself writing for as much as an hour! As with anything we do, simple organization is the key to success! Go get a notebook and see for yourself how easy it is to keep track of your writing ideas! As a writer, I’m always open for suggestions, tips, to help improve my writing!
